Dowry by Profession,
Rank Beats Salary
IAS, doctor, business owner, private sector, government. What each does to the number.
What this measures, and what it does not
These are answers people gave a satirical calculator. Nobody was asked what they paid. They picked a qualification, a job, a salary and a city, and the calculator returned a deliberately absurd figure. So this measures which combinations people found plausible enough to enter: perception, from a self-selected group who found a joke calculator through Google. It is not representative of India, and it is not dowry that changed hands.
Volume counts everyone who answered at least one question. Rupee figures count only people who answered every question, because there is no total until all the inputs exist. For prevalence and prosecutions, use the NCRB statistics.

What people pick
Rank beats salary
IAS or IPS sits at 93.8%. Government service overall sits at 43.8%, below the private sector's 40.5%. Business owners land at 63.9%. A government salary does nothing for the number. A government rank nearly triples it.
And salary itself
Read against the law
Demanding dowry is criminal regardless of profession, and the Dowry Prohibition Act makes no exception for civil servants.

Questions
Which profession produces the highest dowry figure?
IAS or IPS, at 93.8% of finished calculations reaching 75 lakh or above.
Do government jobs command high dowry?
Only the elite services. IAS or IPS reaches 93.8%, while government service overall sits at 43.8%, below the private sector at 40.5%. Rank matters, not sector.
Where does a doctor rank?
Doctors reach 93.8%, second only to the civil services.
Is a dowry demand legal for a government officer?
No, and it is worse for them. Dowry is criminal for everyone under the Dowry Prohibition Act, and for a public servant it is also a disciplinary matter.
